Día de Muertos in Flatiron NoMad_2025

For the month of October through November 2nd, the Flatiron NoMad Partnership will spotlight the cultural heritage of Día de Muertos through public art that honors the tradition while inviting new audiences to engage with one of Mexico’s most meaningful celebrations.

Visitors will have an opportunity to discover and experience several temporary public art installations, including:

October 10 – November 2 — Noche de Ánimas, a temporary outdoor photo exhibit in collaboration with Festival Tragaluz and NYC-based nonprofit Photoville in the Flatiron South Plaza, featuring a rich collection of photographs documenting the rituals of Michoacán’s Pátzcuaro riverbank, during Día de Muertos season.

October 10 – November 2 — Capture memories at the Día de Muertos photo frame in the Flatiron North Plaza! Set against the iconic Flatiron Building, Always Present / Siempre Presente – a vibrant, Día de Muertos-themed installation by local artist Blanka Amezkua – features colorful ribbons, sugar skulls, and maize husks, creating the perfect backdrop for your photos. Tag @FlatironNY on social for a chance to be featured!

October 16 – November 2 — Visitors to the Flatiron South Plaza can enjoy traditional Mexican folk art Papel Picado decor by artist Tanya Aguiñiga strung in the sky.
