US Premiere of Cathedrals + Q&A w/ NPR Code Switch’s B.A. Parker

How does trying to reconnect with collaborators of a S-8 film made nearly 50 years ago turn into a revealing portrait of two Black men and their continuing struggle – what it means to be Black in America today? In Cathedrals, white filmmaker Dan Algrant embarks on a journey to reconnect with two Black collaborators from a film made nearly 50 years ago. Cathedrals becomes a powerful exploration of the bonds that tie us together and the experiences that shape our identities. Through the lens of a creative collaboration, the film illuminates the struggles and triumphs that define life in a close-knit community, ultimately reaffirming the importance of human connection and the power of collective memory.
Firehouse: DCTV’s Cinema for Documentary Film will host a screening of the film, followed by a Q&A with director Dan Algrant and co-creator Don Wright moderated by B.A. Parker, host of NPR’s Code Switch.
Doors open at 6:30pm, screening starts at 7pm. Q&A + reception to follow.
