Times Square Arts Presents Yuge Zhou’s Trampoline Color Exercise

NOW THROUGH JUNE 30.
Times Square will be unveiling a new, monumental public art project across all major billboards at their iconic Midtown intersection.
The work is a 3-minute video piece by Chinese-born, Chicago-based artist Yuge Zhou, that focuses on the immigrant experience and packs a strong and relevant political punch—an apt choice for the venue.
Every night in June from 11:57pm to Midnight, Zhou’s work Trampoline Color Exercise will play across all 92 massive, electronic billboards of Times Square.
Trampoline Color Exercise is a 3-minute collage film, created from archival Olympic footage. A kaleidoscopic mix of blue, red, and yellow, the piece looks at colors and patriotism— particularly China, Ukraine, Russia, and the US— and the increasingly difficult ability to differentiate between our identity, allegiance, and viewpoints.
As some New Yorkers days are ending while other’s parties are just beginning, Yuge’s work will light up midtown with a brief but impactful meditative moment that promotes unity in our ever evolving geopolitical landscape.
