The Rose of Versailles: Remembering Marie Jeanne Bertin

To celebrate New York Textile Month, the Milliners Guild, in partnership with the Garment District Alliance, is presenting a free hat exhibit from September 6 to October 12, 2023. Titled The Rose of Versailles, it features hat designs inspired by Marie-Jeanne Bertin, who is remembered as the first celebrity milliner. Twenty-one Guild members have created a fanciful mix of modern and historical hats and headpieces that reflect Bertin’s aesthetic: luxurious, ostentatious, and well-suited to the gilded halls of Versailles.
