The Marriage
La MaMa’s director-in-residence Zishan Ugurlu stages the long overdue New York premiere of THE MARRIAGE by Witold Gombrowicz, one of Poland’s greatest writers of the 20th century, known for innovative and often provocative works that explore the absurdity of human existence. In the play, we follow Henry, a young soldier who returns home from war to find his world in disarray with upside-down flags, Hoot’s skewered fingers, and a bloody insurrection. In a dream-like sequence, the boundaries between reality and illusion begin to blur.
