The acclaimed musical film The Father Who Stayed is set to make its New York City debut on February 22, 2025, at 6pm ET, AMT Theater (354 W 45th St), followed by a cast Q&A. This feature-length cinematic experience delves into themes of life, loss, and the enduring power of stories that connect us all.
Conceived, written, and directed by celebrated singer-songwriter and filmmaker Jeremy Schonfeld, The Father Who Stayed follows the poignant journey of a single father mourning the loss of his only child, Emily Rose. The narrative is uniquely driven by music, offering audiences a deeply immersive and emotional experience. The film stars actors Christian Campbell, Broadway’s acclaimed Shoshana Bean, Grammy winner and Pulitzer-nominee Rinde Eckert, and Caroline Sottile.
The ensemble cast includes Gus Schonfeld, Annalise McCoy, Ryan Dunn, Jennifer Malenke, Reji Woods, Stephen Clair, Will Bryant, Donna Mikkleson, Kelly Ellenwood, Dimitri Archip, Melvin Tunstall III, Blaine Alden Krauss, America Olivo Campbell, Daniel Rowan-Lyons, Sarah-Jane Casey, Mike Merenda, and Ruth Ungar.
The Father Who Stayed, inspired by the true story of Imogen Roche and her father, Theseus (who later created the Imogen Roche Foundation), has garnered significant acclaim on the festival circuit. The film is a 5-time recipient for Best Original Score and Best Song from festivals including The Seattle Film Festival, The Global Music Awards, The Care Awards, The Synergy Film Festival, and the Bridges International Film Festival since its completion in Spring 2024.
One of the film’s 27 songs “House of Love”, performed by Shoshana Bean, is currently this year’s Broadway Dreams Foundation theme to be performed by Broadway Dreams students and faculty around the world.
Jeremy Schonfeld, the creative force behind the film, is a Billboard-charting singer-songwriter, composer, and award-winning filmmaker. He is also the co-founder of both the Story Screen Music Film Festival and the Beacon Bonfire Music & Art Festival.
The New York City premiere at the AMT Theater promises to be a memorable event, offering attendees an opportunity to experience this powerful film in a historic venue. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A session with Jeremy Schonfeld and select cast members including Christian Campbell and Caroline Sottile.
