AAPI Event Calendar – 4

In honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month, At the Table (AT3) is teaming up with Meals for Unity for our May workshop, Bound with Memory: Shibori and Shared Narratives. Reserve a tickat at the Partiful link: https://partiful.com/e/mz85G7UkJecmC9aSdzVR

Meals for Unity is a local nonprofit that helps fight food insecurity by bringing communities together to donate food to those in need. All profits from this workshop will go directly to support their mission.

In this hands-on experience, we’ll dive into shibori — a traditional Japanese dyeing technique, as a way to explore the stories and threads that shape us.

This month’s theme is Breaking Bao. You’ll reflect on a meaningful dish in your life — maybe something that reminds you of a loved one, a cultural tradition, or a special moment. Through guided writing and fabric binding, you’ll turn that memory into a beautiful, hand-dyed furoshiki (traditional Japanese cloth) — a piece of art that holds your story.

This workshop is also a gentle space for reflection, creativity, and connection — in honor of both the cultures we celebrate and the emotional well-being we hold space for.

All levels are welcome! All materials, snacks, and drinks are included. Drinks for the evening are provided by the Lucky Ox, a local Asian American beverage company, inspired by Vietnamese heritage.

Return Policy: No Refund 48 hours before the events.
