Shae Universe

UK-based R&B star Shae Universe is taking the stage at SOB’s for her first headline performance in NYC! With support from Nnena. 

Born to a Nigerian gospel singer mother and pastor father, Shae Universe fuses spirituality and sensuality in her music. Since her 2017 emergence, she’s garnered praise from British Vogue, NME and BET and icons like Jorja Smith and Lalah Hathaway while maintaining independence. Her 2024 breakout included the 30M-streaming R&B project Love’s Letter, a European tour, Tiny Desk debut, and MOBO nomination. Following her sultry “OOTW” video release, she is preparing for her first US tour after her Toronto premiere at #SheBeLady alongside MC Lyte 

Nnena is a writer, lyricist, rapper, and vocalist, bursting with effusive energy and a massive personality. The Cleveland native, born NNENA to Nigerian parents, credits many of her storytelling impulses to her past screenwriting experience. Her music reflects her eclectic influences ranging from Otis Redding, Millie Jackson, Queen Latifah, Miriam Makeba, Kendrick Lamar, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, and Lauryn Hill.
