NYMS Myco Film Fest – a Film Festival Celebrating Fungi

October 1, 5 pm8 pm.

The New York Mycological Society is pleased to announce our inaugural Myco Film Festival.  NYMS was founded in 1962 by the avantgarde composer and mushroom lover John Cage and has had a long relationship with the arts. Over the past decade there has been a flowering of film and video on the mycological world and we are excited to showcase it.

Come out for a fantastic evening of international short fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental films illuminating the fascinating world of fungi and exploring mycology in bold new ways. Opening reception features a special VR experience— “Honey Fungus”— a sci-fi Virtual Reality installation by artist/director Jonah King, as well as bioacoustical “mushroom” music, and complimentary gourmet mushroom-based appetizers and beverages.

Don’t miss this inspiring celebration of the magic of the mycological in an unforgettable evening of cinematic art, community science, and culinary alchemy!
