Music & Art: The Bobby Sanabria Quartet, In Concert
A concert for music lovers of all ages, The Church, in collaboration with the Reutershan Trust, is pleased to present the Music and Art with the Bobby Sanabria Quartet. Sanabria and his players use jazz music’s history and methodology as a catalyst and inspiration for making visual art. The performance, part recital, part lecture, is a part of the Pierson Arts co-curricular educational program Music and Art, which introduces students to the world of jazz. The performance at The Church, which is central to the program, will be interlaced with anecdotes about jazz, its history, and methodology. The audience will be introduced to various forms of jazz and their relationship to numerous cultural influences, structures, and improvisation. Hear the facility, fluency, and creativity and note the similarities and differences between music and art; and how jazz music has evolved. The participating Pierson students in attendance will take visual notes and photographs and ultimately create artworks inspired by the performance they’ve witnessed; an exhibition of the student’s work will be presented in the spring of 2023. Concluding this outstanding (and informative) performance will be a Q&A between the musicians and the audience.
