Lunch & Learn: 100 Years of NYC

June 4, 1 pm2 pm.
Free

Join the NYC Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS) each month for our virtual Lunch & Learn Series – an intimate conversation with agency staff and special guests on the collections of the Municipal Archives and Library, as well as the history of New York City.

WNYC is turning 100!

From 1924 until 1997, WNYC Radio was owned and operated by the City of New York as the Municipal Broadcasting Station for “Instruction, Enlightenment, and Entertainment.” WNYC turns 100 this year, and its history is intimately related to the City government and the NYC Municipal Archives.

On June 4th, join DORIS’s Michael Lorenzini and WNYC’s Andy Lanset for a discussion on the history and significance of WNYC and the upcoming exhibition, 100 Years of WNYC at the 2024 Photoville Festival. This multimedia installation celebrates the one-hundred-year history of WNYC and includes archival material from the NYC Municipal Archives and the New York Public Radio Archives.
