Jane Austen English Country Dance in Celebration of Austen’s 250th Birthday

Step back in time! Country Dance New York presents a special English country dance in honor of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday on Tuesday, October 7th at Church of the Village, 201 West 13th Street, NYC. This fun and sociable introduction to English country dancing will be comprised of English country dances that Jane likely danced in her lifetime and that appear in her books, plus some modern ones we’re sure she would enjoy if she were dancing today. Brief readings, both from her books and inspired by them, will be sprinkled throughout the evening. Period attire or festive dress is encouraged. All dances will be taught. No partner necessary. Live, lively music will accompany the evening’s dancing.
