James Langton’s NY All-Star Big Band Plays Artie Shaw

Step back in time to hear jazz legend Artie Shaw’s great 1938/39 big band arrangements. Dine – and even dance – to Shaw classics like “Begin the Beguine”, authentically performed by James Langton’s New York All -Star Big Band featuring the cream of New York’s swing jazz stars. Taking center stage will be Hot House magazine’s best clarinetist Dan Levinson with the beautiful singing stylings of Molly Ryan.

The band will play the original arrangements from the archives, not only Shaw staples like “Begin the Beguine” and “Back Bay Shuffle” but many arrangements will be performed for the very first time; indeed they may not have been performed since the Shaw band starred at the Cafe Rouge of the Hotel Pennsylvania in 1939. You’ll hear “Day In Day Out”, “Sweet Sue”, “At Sundown”, “Man From Mars”, “Zigeuner”, “Shine On Harvest Moon”, “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love” to name but a few. For swing and big band aficionados this is a unique event NOT TO BE MISSED!
