As part of its month-long Pride celebration and its unwavering commitment to promoting social justice, Marble Collegiate Church will welcome  John Pavlovitz, bestselling author of the new book, “Worth Fighting For: Finding Courage & Compassion When Cruelty Is Trending.”

“Love Is a Four-Letter Word: How the Compassionate Teachings of Jesus Became Offensive to Christians is the discussion that will begin at 10 a.m. The conversation will continue into the 11 a.m. worship service, where he will speak on the topic “Love Wins and Other Dangerous Myths.” Immediately following, he will lead a question-and-answer session and book signing.

John Pavlovitz, a writer, pastor, activist and storyteller from Wake Forest, N.C., has made a profound impact over the past decade with his thought-provoking blog, “Stuff That Needs to Be Said,” reaching a diverse worldwide audience with over one hundred million views. A 25-year veteran in the trenches of local church ministry, Pavlovitz is committed to equality, diversity, and justice—both inside and outside faith communities.

Pavlovitz’s books include “A Bigger Table,” which explores the importance of inclusivity and diversity in faith communities, and “If God Is Love, Don’t Be a Jerk,” which challenges the traditional understanding of God’s love. He currently directs Empathetic People Network, a vibrant online community connecting people worldwide who want to create a more compassionate planet.
