HRCS 15th Annual Sailing for Scholars Gala and Regatta
Hudson River Community Sailing will host its 15th annual Sailing for Scholars Gala and Regatta in New York City on Oct. 15 and 19-20. The gala will take place in the Model Room of the New York Yacht Club, and sailing teams will raise funds and compete in a two-day regatta starting Oct. 19 at the Dyckman Marina in Inwood. Sailing for Scholars is HRCS’s largest fundraising event and all proceeds directly support HRCS’s youth development and maritime access programs, including Sail Academy and Adaptive Sailing.
The 2024 Sailing for Scholars schedule includes:
• Tuesday, October 15 – Gala and Silent Auction – HRCS will host its gala at the Model Room of the New York Yacht Club. There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a unique silent auction, and remarks from HRCS students. Noreen Doyle will be honored. This year’s silent auction features a private sailing lesson with one of the biggest names in American sailing: World Champion sailor Mike Buckley of the United States SailGP team. Bidders can also win homestays in Nantucket and Shelter Island, Rangers and Giants tickets, tickets for the Cocoa and Carols Holiday Cruise with Classic Harbor Line, and other exciting sailing and non-sailing items. You can purchase gala tickets here, and bid on auction items here.
• Saturday, October 19 – Sunday, October 20 – Regatta – With racing all weekend long, teams will compete on the water at the Dyckman Marina in Inwood. Winners will be announced at a post-event reception at The Hudson. The full list of competing teams – including HRCS’s youth racing team, the Sea Dragons – with options to donate to each is available here: https://www.classy.org/campaign/sailing-for-scholars-regatta-2024/c605373
