Celebrate Bellydancers and Musicians of Color at the Seventh Annual Harlem Hafla!

Historically, Black and dark-skinned Bellydancers have faced discrimination in the US and Middle East, where lighter-skinned dancers are favored.

The Harlem Hafla honors their unique talents, celebrating their essential contributions to the art of Bellydance!

Join us for this exciting day of bellydance workshops and performances—with soul! Harlem Hafla brings daytime dance workshops and an evening stage performance with an accomplished lineup of dancers, Uptown!

This event will feature male and female dancers performing cabaret-style bellydance and traditional folkloric Egyptian dance, which is rarely seen on American stages.

Our headliner this year is Master Performer and Instructor, Naimah! She is an award-winning belly dancer from Baltimore, MD and director of the award-winning troupe, Amandari.

With a background in ballet, modern, hip hop and African dance, her style is best described as eclectic and eccentric. She teaches online classes on a multitude of topics pertaining to dance including history, culture and props.

Tandava Arts Bellydance is proud to partner with Sisters in Sharqui to bring you this breathtaking live music and dance event!
