The 134th Rose Parade and 109th Rose Bowl Game will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023. The events will occur the day after New Year’s Day in keeping with the Tournament’s “Never on Sunday” tradition kept since 1893, the first year the Rose Parade fell on a Sunday.

For millions of people around the world, the Rose Parade is an iconic New Year’s Day tradition. The Rose Parade travels 5 ½ miles down Colorado Blvd. and features four types of entries: floral-decorated floats entered by a participating corporation, non-profit organization or municipality, equestrian units, bands, and Tournament entries. If you were expecting to watch the Rose Parade the morning of New Year’s Day, you’ll have to wait another day.

The annual parade typically kicks off the morning the first day of the calendar year, but it won’t happen on Jan. 1 this year for the 20th time in its 134-year history. That’s because the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, the organizers of the parade, have kept it a tradition to not hold the parade on Sundays. This year’s Rose Bowl Game, which follows the parade, will also be on Jan. 2.

Here’s what to know, and how to watch, this year’s Rose Parade:

The 2023 Rose Bowl Parade is a broadcast television staple and will again be available for free for anyone who has a TV set, an antenna, and clear reception. The parade will be broadcast this year on NBC. It will also air on ABC, Hallmark Channel, and Univision.
