“A Night at La Nacional,” the monthly film/arts event launched in April at the Spanish Benevolent Society’s landmark headquarters on Manhattan’s West 14th Street and drawing diverse creative communities to its salon-like ambience, returns on Tuesday June 24th with a 1925-dress code event and Spanish film and art display to celebrate a century of the move to its now-permanent home. Daily News dubbed La Nacional “a hidden gem,” the last standing remnant of Manhattan’s “Little Spain” and one of the city’s oldest non-profits. We will celebrate the milestone in full splendor.

This month’s marqueé is headlined by three distinguished Spanish film artists: Catalonia’s Marta Arjona (In Remembrance of the Forgotten, a dance drama), Lucía Román Canivell  (Corahe, love and loss against the backdrop of a flamenco tablao), and the experimentalist Beach Birds: The Shaman, The Guardian, The Journey by performance artist/filmmaker Ivana Larrosa, who also brings “Engrams,” enhanced photographs of her ancestors from the early 20th century, to the gallery space. Surprise guests will round out the performance component.

A Night at La Nacional offers a worldly mix of contemporary arthouse, performance, music, visual arts and more in the great downtown Manhattan tradition, a lively hub for filmmakers, performers, artists and communities to share work and forge partnerships while drawing new patrons to La Nacional, serving its Spanish constituency and artists from all corners of the world since its founding. Doors open 5:30 for the mixer and art exhibit, performances at 6:30, screening at 8 with a Q & A and after-party. Welcome one and all.

Admission to “A Night at La Nacional” is free. Donations accepted.
