Jeff Simmermon (This American Life, The Moth, RISK) wouldn’t let testicular cancer keep him from becoming a father, and just as he began IVF treatments to start his family, a pandemic shut the world down. That same year, his own father was diagnosed with ALS. As Jeff travels from NYC to Virginia to care for his dying father and absorb as much parental guidance as he can, he navigates bumpy roads, white knuckles, and the colossal, enraging maze of the US medical system.
