Author Mare Davis will read from Alice and Fay, her children’s story of two friends: a lizard named Alice who lives in a stone house in the South of France and a fairy named Fay who lives under a rosebush in the garden. One hot summer day, these two hear a call for help from some tadpoles at a nearby chateau. They know they must do something, because, as Alice says, “when someone small and frightened needs your help, you have to be brave.” And use your magic. Appropriate for ages 4 and up. LGBTQ+ families most welcome!

About the Author:  A former contributor to both Just Out Portland (Oregon’s biweekly LGBTQ newspaper) and Options (Providence’s LGBTQ monthly), writer Mare Davis has previously published three books of poems: Twenty-eight Days, My Father’s House, and Dangerous Kisses. She holds a Ph.D. in English Literature and currently teaches college composition at Johnson & Wales University. Alice and Fay, A Fairy Adventure is her first book for children – albeit of all ages – inspired in part by her many visits to the South of France where she owns a home with a group of friends.
