The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) is proud to host its 7th Annual Volunteer Fair. This event offers a significant opportunity for those interested in deeper involvement within the architecture and design community. Join IIDA NY at this year’s event on Wednesday, June 4th, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm, at the OFS NYC Showroom located at 350 5th Ave, Suite 5910, New York, NY 10118.

The Volunteer Fair will feature representatives from IIDA NY’s 28 committees, including Forums, Member Services, and Signature Events, who will be present, alongside many members of the Executive Board and Board of Directors. All committee co-chairs will be in attendance to answer questions, share upcoming initiatives, and provide insight into their teams’ roles within the organization. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how each committee contributes to IIDA NY’s mission and how they can get involved.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, IIDA NY is an inclusive community of creative professionals, industry partners, and students within New York State. The chapter is dedicated to celebrating design, encouraging collaboration, sharing knowledge, and advocating for the interior design community. Within the past year, the chapter’s committees have organized various events, forums, and seminars to positively impact the greater community. These include:

    • Forums: The Healthcare, Civic Design & Hospitality committees provide members with a venue to discuss the latest trends and design concepts including DEX NYC®.
    • Signature Events: Learn how to get involved with annual events such as Color Invasion®, Leaders Breakfast®, and Pioneering Design®.
  • Education: Through events and partnerships, the Student and Professional Development Committees aim to educate and inspire the next generation of the design community.
  • Advocacy: The Advocacy Committee executes and produces messaging and information regarding legislation to advance interior design as a profession.
  • Action: Dedicated to momentum and progress, IIDA NY comprises Equity Council, which advocates for systems-level change to advance racial equity in the design industry; the Catalyst Committee, which engages with local communities through design-based service programs or educational initiatives; and the Sustainability Circle, which provides events focused on progressing sustainability in the industry.

“We are always seeking passionate volunteers who are eager to contribute to the growth and success of our chapter,” said Laura Sviridoff, Co-Chair of IIDA NY’s Volunteer committee. “Whether it’s through event planning, managing our website and social media, assisting with sponsorship and fundraising, or enhancing student and member outreach, there are countless ways to get involved. Volunteering offers a unique opportunity to expand your network, grow professionally, and make a meaningful impact on the design community.”
